Do I need bleed and cutmarks?

Yes, your artwork needs to have cutmarks and 3mm bleed added.

What does that mean?
You need to add 3mm more color all round your artwork. This means that if you wish your business card to end up being 55mm x 90mm (the size of a standard business card) you need to design it to be 61mm x 96mm, so we can trim 3mm of each side.

What do I need to know about setting up my file so it looks the way I want it to be?
What you create is what you will get back, so if the artwork is not perfect then the printed material can’t be perfect too. Please have in mind that when you look at your file on screen, you are probably looking at the color in RGB, and the color will be changed when it’s converted to CMYK, also if your monitor is not calibrated then your colors will look differently too.

While it’s true that we can print from a wide range of file types, we recommend you use the following specs for the best possible result:

Small Format Set-Up requirements

  • Format: JPEG or PDF
  • Colour: Four Colour Process (CMYK)
  • Bleed: 3mm
  • Safe Zone: 3mm
  • Resolution: 300dpi
